Hungarian is not difficult, it’s just different thinking and sometimes unusual ways of naming things. And that’s – among other things – what makes it fun. Did you know that Hungarians have one eye, one ear, and one leg? That’s why we call someone who is blind in one eye “blind in his half eye”, a deaf person “deaf in half an ear” and someone with no legs a “half-legged man”. In Fungarian classes you will also learn the hazards of asking someone “How are you?” – you might get a tirade of complaints as a result. Instead, we recommend you say “What’s news?” and get a casual “nothing special” instead.
